PWN NORWAY MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

Mentorship Program in 2019 - Interview with Angela Holter

Are you interested in learning more about the Mentorship Program of PWN Norway? Perhaps you consider applying for it as a mentee or mentor and want to know what is in it for you?

PWN Norway’s Mentorship Program pairs together mentees, PWN members, with mentors that are references in their areas. The Program is designed for three different segments of seniority, from board ready women to those taking their first steps in their professional career.

The mentees work with their mentor to set and achieve goals during 8-12 monthly sessions. They have the support of a team that accompanies the pair as needed and organizes get-togethers aimed at networking and sharing. The Program has grown significantly given its result-orientation and mentors report that learning is indeed mutual.

To first sum up with the high-points from last year’s Mentorship Program:

  • 3 team members: Angela R. Holter (VP), Nikol Mard (PM), Deborah Throo (PM)

  • 21 mentoring pairs

  • 6 months duration

  • 2 mentor training sessions

  • On average 1 monthly mentor/mentee meeting

  • More than 50% mentees who responded to the survey rated their mentor with 5*

To get an initial impression, we approached Angela Holter, the current VP of Mentorship and asked her some questions about this year’s Program.

- How is the Mentorship Program for 2019 planned?

The Mentorship Program will be launched during March and it will run until December 2019. We expect to have at least 20 mentoring pairs.

- How is this year's program going to be different from the one of last year?

We are glad to announce that Robert Marsalis, an expert in leadership development with more than 20 years of experience, will be training our mentors. This year we will keep on focusing on developing the quality of our mentoring offering instead of the number of mentees and mentors in the program.

- What are some of the challenges that you expect (and those you faced last year)?

Our biggest challenge is growth. That means that we have many more members interested in being mentees than the number of qualified mentors available. We don't want to allow just anyone to be a mentor since it is a big responsibility, therefore we are forced to limit the number of mentoring pairs.

- Who does the team consist of?

[I] will continue with [my] role as the VP of Mentorship, with the support of Aldo Matteucci, Marike Stassar and Deborah Throo as project managers.

- What are the dates - to-be-saved?

The Matchmaking Event will take place on the 20th of March and the mentoring pairs will have their first session in April.

This adds a perspective to the course of the Mentorship Program throughout this year. We look forward to be sharing some positive feedback from this year’s program with you once the cohort has been completed!
